The lightsabers colours also differed and existed in various types. Every characteristic and feature on the lightsaber are significant. The most meaningful aspect of the lightsaber is its colour. The colours have an incidental detail and meaning that differs for all colours. The colours originate from a Kyber crystal which has been used to make the blades. The colours are associated with an individual’s traditional devotion and history. To select the right lightsaber colour, you need to understand the significance of the colour aspect and what each colour symbolises.

Meaning of Various Lightsaber Colours

Blue

Blue coloured lightsabers symbolise the peacekeeping cause of the Jedi. Therefore, the blue colour of a lightsaber means that its wielder is from a Jedi cause. The Jedi cause requires that the members adhere to peace, service to others, order and knowledge. Therefore, the defenders of the order and the Jedi Guardians are the wielders of the blue lightsabers, as seen in the film Star Wars where only particular people wield the blue lightsabers.

Red

The Jedi enemies, the Sith, wield the red lightsabers. The wielders of this lightsaber colour adhere to the Sith order. They believe in self-satisfaction, ruthlessness, valorisation of power, and might makes right. The red colour is said to be the bleeding of the crystal for its suffering since the dark side created the lightsaber.

Green

This colour also symbolises a Jedi cause with a strong relation to the Living Force andJedi Consular but is rare compared to the blue lightsabers. Individuals wielding the green lightsabers show they believe in diplomacy and harmony but can defend themselves when need be. It is mostly associated with expertise and wisdom.

Orange

The orange lightsabers were introduced recently to the groups of lightsabers. They are wielded by the Jedi padawan Cal Kestis in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. However, much about these lightsabers has not been discovered yet.

Yellow

The Jedi Sentinel is known to like the yellow colour. The Guardians and diplomatic consular wield it. They also symbolise the fighting capabilities of the wielder.

Purple

The Jedi Master Mace Windu was the final wielder of the crafted purple lightsaber. The individual who wields this lightsaber is devoted to a fierce warrior.

White

Ahsoka Tano created the white lightsaber on quitting the Jedi cause. She was accused of sedition, which made her doubt the Jedi hierarchy since they accused her wrongly and later wanted to take her back in. So she chose to operate on her own and not under the order. Lightsabers of this colour are associated with the light side of the Living Force.

Black

An infamous dark side of Mandalorian created the black lightsaber. The lightsaber is very powerful, unique and intimidating. Traditionally, this saber symbolised the House Vizsla. The lightsaber has been passed down to several people but cannot be wielded by the next person unless they kill its wielder.

Conclusion

There are meanings and explanations as to why wielders have lightsabers of varying colours. Although lightsabers are fictional, they are portrayed in Star Wars as elegant weapons used by wielders of different causes. Their wielders create them on finishing the Dark Side of the Light Side.
